Happy Fourth!
Before we begin this holiday, we'd like to take a second and say thanks. You're the reason we've been writing this email for years.
We're taking a little time off and working on new ideas to make this list better and more useful than ever, and we'd love to hear your thoughts. Keep an eye on your inbox for more details and drop us a line at mister@mistersaturdaynight.com with your feedback. We'd love to hear from you.
Rest assured that the selections will return soon, with exciting changes to share.
Thanks for reading. Have a lovely weekend.
This Week: Faith No More and The Fourth of July
Last Week: Afro-Punk and India's Dancing Queen
BARD
OF BROOKLYN Issue Project
Room gathers an impressive crew of writers and musicians to celebrate
the poetry of Walt
Whitman from "the heights of
Brooklyn," his favorite vantage point.
Gaze at "mast-hemm'd Manhattan" while listening to a marathon reading
of Whitman's Leaves of Grass,
and hear Henry Grimes,
Prince Rama and the Wingdale Community Singers salute the borough's
"beautiful hills" and the poet who made them immortal.

THE
PRICE IS RIGHT The Whitney
Live
concert series brings unusual sounds to the museum's sculpture court on
pay-what-you-wish Friday evenings. Come early to experience new
installations by artist/composer Christian
Marclay, who asks the audience
to collaborate with him on an
evolving score written across a giant blackboard. Then head outside for
the summery sounds of LA/Brooklyn duo High
Places and Toro y Moi's
fuzzy pop.
You'll get what you pay for — and then some.

GOLDEN
HORN Istanbul
celebrates its selection as the European Capital of Culture by bringing
the sounds of Turkey's most vibrant city to Central Park. This free
show unites pop, rock, folk and jazz musicians for an afternoon
imported straight from the Bosphorus, featuring Ilhan Erşahin's Istanbul
Sessions
and Anatolian rockers Duman.
Nonstop tea drinking is optional, but strongly encouraged.

INDEPENDENCE
DAY BEST Barbecue?
Sunshine? Kiddie
pool? Check,
check, check.
The Fourth is shaping up to be a perfect summer's day and Sunday Best
is celebrating. Dance the afternoon away in Brooklyn Fire Proof's
spacious courtyard and then scale a nearby warehouse to catch the
fireworks from the roof. Resident DJs Justin Carter, Eamon Harkin and
Doug Singer are set to declare musical independence, alongside
ever-funky guest Rich Medina.

FAITH
ONCE MORE With
questionable reunion tours limping along left and right, Faith No More's
comeback is more "Epic"
than "Midlife Crisis." Singer/ringmaster Mike Patton remains as vital
and versatile as ever, having just released an album of orchestral Italian
pop songs
that showcases his potent pipes. Expect Patton to let loose at this,
the second of a
pair of outdoor shows, as Faith No More hit New York City for the first
time in more than a decade. Surprisingly enough, "We Care a Lot."
